Montana Landlords Association

Directors are currently working on updating the Law Book and Forms to comply with the laws passed during the 2021 Legislative Session.  The new Law Book and Forms should be ready in December 2021.

The MLA is a statewide non-profit trade association dedicated to the concept that knowledgeable, well-informed,  and law-abiding members make better Landlords.

Offering a variety of services to improve and support the residential Landlord / Tenant industry in Montana, providing our members with timely information about industry developments, educational opportunities, and membership benefits.


Membership benefits include:

  • the use of the MLA forms and documents bearing the MLA logo. Each of these forms and documents has been reviewed by an attorney in an effort to assure that it complies with the current statutes of the State of Montana, as well as Federal laws, to the best of our knowledge and ability. These forms and documents are protected by Federal copyright law and are to be used by current members of the MLA only;
  • access to the members only areas of this website;
  • direct communications with other members who can help you solve problems;
  • a free copy of the Landlord-Tenant Law Book; and
  • ongoing training and education for our members.
To become a member of the Montana Landlords Association, scroll down to the bottom of this page and click Become A Member.  This will take you to a page that will allow you to join the MLA in one of two ways:  you can print the membership application and mail a complete copy along with your check to the address on the application or you can scroll down the page and fill out the online application and pay with a credit card.  If you choose to fill out the online application and pay by credit card, you will need to close out of the website and then sign in with the email and password you created when you completed your application.  This will give you access to all the members-only pages of the website.  Membership dues are non-refundable due to access to members-only information and documents which may be instantly downloaded and printed upon membership activation.
